Sometimes you have to backtrack. But that’s okay.

Let’s burn everything.

Oh, hi there.

I’m still here. I’ve just been there.

The Velveteen Rabbit

“What is REAL?” asked the Rabbit one day.

“Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you.”

“Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit.

“Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.”

“Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,” he asked, “or bit by bit?”

“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

Everything is blurred.
Everything is hazy.
Deep darks and bright highlights.
A long exposure at the smallest aperture.

I sold my T2i to a friend today. Thought I’d re-share some memories that I had/captured with it.

As with all the near-and-dear creative production gadgets I part ways with, I’ll miss ya.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

In regard to my scrubby facial hair

  • Vanessa: You look like you're going through it.
  • Me: I *am* going through it.

You’re very funky.
Let me funk too.

What’s this?
My feet don’t reach the ground beneath.

Idea: Contextual Flash Drive Gift

Flash drives have become super cheap over the years. Purchasing a lower memory flash drive, filling it up with the files of your choice, and wrapping it up would make a frugal, simple, yet thoughtful gift.

Maybe if I close my eyes they won’t see me, and I could finally have some peace.
